Goal
On 30 June 2011, China's National People's Congress announced some significant changes to the collection of Individual Income Tax (IIT):
1. The minimum threshold for IIT payments by Chinese employees has been raised from CNY 2,000 to CNY 3,500.
2. The current 9-bracket progressive tax rate system is replaced by a 7-bracket system, with the 15% and 40% brackets removed.
The new rules will be effective from 1 September 2011. Is there a patch to deliver this change?
Solution
Development is aware of the new tax exemption amount and the latest changes to tax scales.
Enhancement Request BUG 12818466 has been created to track the implementation of the changes.
