Symptoms
What are the roles ReportDistAdmin, ReportSuperUser, and ProcessSchedulerAdmin? Why do they not have any permission lists?
Cause
Not Applicable
Solution
These Roles are "Special" roles that through the underlying C code are recognized to have permission lists to do certain things like administer, delete, and view reports and processes.
See PeopleBooks: Process Scheduler > Process Scheduler Report Distribution > Granting Report Manager Administrative Roles.
"ReportDistAdmin" - This is for roleusers who are Report Distributions Administrators. They have access to view ALL the reports output from Report Manager. They are also allowed to delete the report entry and update the distribution list / expiration date of a report entry in Report Manger.
"ReportSuperUser" - This is for roleusers who are Report Super users. They are allowed to delete their own report entries, update the distribution list and expiration of the report entries they have access to in Report Manger.
See PeopleBooks: Process Scheduler > Process Scheduler Administration > Setting Up Process Scheduler Security
"ProcessSchedulerAdmin" - You have an option to setup a User ID in PeopleSoft Security as a Process Scheduler system administrator. A user with this privilege has ability to update any definitions in Process Scheduler Manager and view all process requests in Process Monitor.
These, along with the Portal Administrator and PeopleSoft Administrator, are the only hard coded roles as far as PeopleTools is concerned. However, there may be roles in certain applications like "Vice President" that are hard coded for application specific reasons. One way to tell might be to check the PSROLEDEFN table. Try this statement in SQL.
Select ROLENAME from PSROLEDEFN where ROLENAME not in (select ROLENAME from PSROLECLASS)
This will tell you what roles do not have permission lists assigned to them. From this list, you can open those roles to see their descriptions or if they can be modified.
Additional Resources:
Use the Diagnostics Framework plug-in ‘PeopleSoft Enterprise DFW Plug-in – PT PeopleTools Check Administrative Security’ (Doc ID 1622006.1) to tell you what roles do not have permission lists assigned to them. Once the DFW plug-in has been applied to your environment, navigate to Application Diagnostics > Launch Diagnostics and select DFW_CHK_ADMIN_SECURITY to launch the diagnostic.
